The ABNM A5 thermoelectric actuator was developed by Danfoss specifically for use with AB-QM pressure-independent balancing and control valves in nominal sizes DN10–32 (½–1¾ inch) in both heating and cooling applications. The actuator with ordering code 082F1162 features a 6.5 mm stroke, a logarithmic control characteristic (LOG), and a Normally Closed (NC) design – meaning the valve is closed when the power supply is disconnected.

The actuator is controlled by means of an analogue 0–10 V DC signal provided by a room thermostat or a central direct digital control (DDC) system. The actuator converts this signal into proportional movement of the valve stem. The logarithmic version (LOG) is recommended for fan coil units and chilled ceiling applications (air-to-water heat exchanger), as it ensures a linear response of the entire system and optimum room temperature control.
