Danfoss ASV-D DN 40 is a presettable partner balancing valve designed for automatic flow balancing in risers of hot-water heating systems. It operates in conjunction with ASV-PV, ASV-P or AB-PM dynamic balancing valves, which control the differential pressure in the riser. The valve body is made of brass (CW 617N), with a G 1 1/2" female threaded connection, Kvs 26 m³/h.
The ASV-D is installed in riser pipework of hot-water heating systems – typically in apartment buildings, office buildings or industrial premises with multi-storey heating systems. The valve can be installed inside the controlled circuit (for verifying flow through the riser) or outside the controlled circuit (for limiting flow, while keeping the entire controlled pressure range available for the riser). The choice of orientation depends on whether flow limitation is carried out on the riser or separately on each heating unit.
The valve features separate functions for flow presetting and shut-off. The preset value is visible from several angles on the numerical scale and is secured by pressing down the handle – the setting can also be protected with a sealing strip. Shut-off is provided by a ball valve with 90° rotation, while a colour indicator (red/white) clearly shows the open/closed status. The handle is removable, making installation easier in confined spaces.


The valve is equipped with two built-in self-sealing measuring ports for 3 mm needles, to which a Danfoss PFM 100 or PFM 1000 measuring instrument (or an instrument from another brand) can be connected. The PFM 1000 has the valve data stored in its memory and displays the flow directly. Measurement accuracy is ±10% in the fully open position and ±18% at a setting of 25% of maximum flow (according to BS 7350:1990).
Technical parameters:
When installed inside the controlled circuit, the medium flows through the valve in the direction of the arrow on the body – the valve then serves to verify flow in the riser, but part of the ASV-PV pressure range is used up by the pressure loss across the partner valve. When installed outside the controlled circuit, the medium flows in the opposite direction – the entire controlled pressure range is available for the riser, and flow limitation is carried out separately at each radiator. The Kv values remain unchanged in both orientations.
The ASV-D is designed as a partner valve for Danfoss ASV-PV, ASV-P or AB-PM dynamic balancing valves. These control the differential pressure in the riser, while the ASV-D is used for flow presetting and measurement. The valve has two built-in measuring ports for 3 mm diameter needles. Connect a Danfoss PFM 100 or PFM 1000 measuring instrument (or an instrument from another manufacturer). The PFM 1000 has the valve data stored in its memory and displays the flow directly; with instruments from other manufacturers, it is necessary to work with the Kv signal values from the table in the data sheet. For best results, Danfoss recommends using original Danfoss test needles.
Yes. After setting the required flow value, the handle is secured by pressing it down (locking function). The setting can then be protected with a sealing strip (accessory order no. 003Z4660). The shut-off function is separate from the presetting function – the valve can be closed and opened even after sealing, without changing the flow setting.
The ASV-D valve is compatible with ethylene glycol/propylene glycol mixtures up to a concentration of 30%. For systems with antifreeze mixture, correction factors given in the data sheet must be used when setting the flow (the values depend on temperature and the percentage of glycol in the solution). The minimum medium temperature is –20 °C.
