Danfoss ASV-PV 4G DN 25 is an automatic balancing valve – a differential pressure controller designed for installation in the return pipework of two-pipe heating systems. It maintains a constant differential pressure across a riser or apartment unit regardless of the current system load, ensuring stable hydronic balancing at both full and partial output.
The ASV-PV 4G is intended for two-pipe wet heating systems in residential and office buildings – particularly where radiators with presettable thermostatic valves or underfloor heating manifolds are used as terminal heating units. The valve is installed in the return pipework of each riser or apartment unit and, together with a partner valve (ASV-BD or ASV-M) on the flow pipework, forms a pressure-independent control zone. Thanks to its compact installation dimensions, it is also suitable for space-restricted installations – for example in concealed wall cabinets for underfloor heating manifolds.
The ASV-PV is a diaphragm differential pressure controller. Pressure from the return pipe acts on the lower part of the control diaphragm, while pressure from the flow pipe, conveyed via an impulse tube, acts on the upper part. The valve continuously balances the pressure difference and keeps the set Δp constant. The differential pressure is set by turning the adjustment scale without tools, and the setting can be secured with a locking ring to prevent unauthorised adjustment. The factory setting for the 5–25 kPa range is 10 kPa. The valve has integrated shut-off, draining and system flushing functions.
Technical parameters (DN 15, order no. 003Z5511):
The ASV-PV always operates together with a partner valve (ASV-BD or ASV-M), which is installed in the flow pipework. The two valves are connected by the impulse tube supplied in the package. Differential pressure control cannot be ensured without the partner valve – the partner valve provides the reference pressure for the ASV-PV diaphragm.
The Δp setting is adjusted by turning the adjustment scale without tools – clockwise increases the value, anticlockwise decreases it. The valve is factory-set to 10 kPa (range 5–25 kPa). After adjustment, the scale can be secured with a locking ring to prevent accidental or unauthorised changes. The shut-off function is structurally separate from the adjustment mechanism, so shutting off the system does not affect the setting.
Yes, the ASV-PV is also suitable for underfloor heating. The valve is installed on the return side upstream of the manifold and ensures a constant differential pressure for the entire manifold. Its compact installation dimensions allow it to be fitted directly into the manifold’s concealed wall cabinet. The flow in the individual circuits is then limited by setting the manifold itself or the ASV-BD partner valve.
Flushing is carried out using the optional flushing accessory (order no. 003Z7850), which is fitted onto the valve spring guide in place of the shut-off handle. The accessory is turned fully clockwise and the system is flushed in the direction of the arrow on the valve body. Before flushing begins, the system must be filled with water so that the differential pressure does not exceed 5 bar.
The ASV-PV valve is also available in a version with an EPP insulation cover. The insulation is intended for operating temperatures up to 120 °C and is fitted by simply clipping it on without tools. Both insulation materials used in the ASV range (EPS and EPP) meet fire classification B2 requirements in accordance with DIN 4102.
