The Danfoss Icon Master Controller is the central control unit for heating systems in homes and elsewhere. It regulates the temperature in individual rooms and monitors which room needs heating or where the heating should be turned off. The controller can connect to up to 10 external 24V thermostats.

By default, the controller is configured as wired. However, by purchasing a radio module, it is possible to connect thermostats wirelessly as well. The controller can also handle a combination of both types of connections simultaneously.

 

The controller can be operated via touch on its body or through a mobile app on a smartphone. The app can be downloaded for both Android and iOS. However, to enable phone control, an application module must be purchased.

The controller's functions can be further expanded by adding an expansion module, which allows the controller to switch between heating and cooling rooms.

When wirelessly connected to thermostats, the range may not be sufficient. This issue can be resolved by adding a signal booster unit, which amplifies the signal and extends its range.

The controller monitors the hydraulic balance of the heating system, ensuring even heating of all rooms, regardless of their size. It also checks whether the distribution system is functioning correctly and tests the functionality of the valves.

The Icon system is fully compatible with the Ally radiator system. Mixed heating is therefore not a problem at all, with the temperature in the system being controlled by either the Ally or Icon system, leaving it entirely up to the user to choose which one to prioritise. Additionally, Danfoss Ally can connect with voice assistants such as Alexa, Siri, and Google Home.
