Danfoss KP75 is a capillary thermostat designed for temperature control, monitoring and alarm functions in industrial and commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. It responds to the temperature measured by a remote capillary sensor bulb and makes or breaks an electrical circuit when the set limit is exceeded. Version 060L113766 covers the range 0–35 °C with automatic reset.

Where the thermostat can be used

The KP75 is used in commercial and industrial refrigeration applications – in cold rooms, freezer display cabinets, air-conditioning units and industrial process lines where the temperature of a medium or space needs to be monitored and a switching or alarm response is required. The remote capillary sensor bulb (capillary length 2,000 mm) allows the control housing to be installed in an accessible location, while the sensor itself measures the temperature directly at the point of measurement. The thermostat is also suitable for applications where the ambient temperature fluctuates significantly – it operates reliably in environments from −40 °C to +65 °C.

Settings and electrical properties

The switching range is set directly on the thermostat scale within 0–35 °C; the differential is adjustable from 2.5 to 12.0 K (at the maximum range setting). The SPDT contact (single-pole changeover) allows the thermostat to be used both as a controller and as an alarm in the same circuit at the same time. Contact rating is up to 16 A / 400 V (AC1 and AC3), so direct switching of single-phase motors up to 2 kW is possible without an auxiliary relay. The electrical connection is fitted with a rubber cable gland for cables with a diameter of 6–14 mm.

Frequently asked questions

The switching temperature is set directly on the range scale (0–35 °C). The differential is also adjustable on a separate scale; it ranges from 2.5 to 12.0 K at the maximum range setting and from 3.5 to 16.0 K at the minimum setting. Both parameters are adjusted manually without the need for special tools.

Yes. The SPDT contact can directly switch single-phase AC motors up to approximately 2 kW (AC3 = 16 A / 400 V, LR = 112 A). For higher outputs or three-phase motors, an auxiliary relay or contactor must be used.

The adsorption (cross-ambient) charge ensures that the thermostat responds to the sensor temperature independently of the ambient temperature around the control housing – the switching point does not change even if the ambient temperature exceeds the set switching value. With a vapour charge, a higher ambient temperature could undesirably affect operation. The KP75 with adsorption charge is therefore suitable for environments with variable or higher ambient temperatures.

The standard protection rating is IP30 – the thermostat is therefore not protected against water and offers only limited protection against the ingress of solid objects. For damp or outdoor environments, the thermostat must be installed in a suitable enclosure with a higher protection rating, or a KP75 version with cover and back plate should be selected, which achieves IP44.

The sensor bulb can withstand temperatures of up to 110 °C for short periods without damaging the thermostat. This value applies to the sensor itself – the control housing must remain continuously within the range −40 to +65 °C (up to 80 °C for a maximum of 120 minutes short-term).
