Danfoss MSV-F2 DN 50 PN 25 is a manual balancing valve with flanged connection for closed heating and cooling systems. It is used to preset the flow rate on each branch or riser so that the system operates in hydraulic balance. The valve features an integrated position indicator, a stroke limiter, and two needle measuring ports for connecting a flow meter.
The MSV-F2 is installed on each branch, riser, or terminal unit connection (fan coil, heat exchanger) in closed heating and cooling systems. The valve ensures that each part of the system receives exactly the flow rate specified by the designer, regardless of operating pressure changes. It is suitable for both new installations and building refurbishments where hydraulic balancing of the system is required. Thanks to its flanged design in accordance with EN 1092-2, it can be used for larger diameters and higher pressures in process or industrial circuits.

The valve handle is integrated with the stroke limiter – simply set it to the required value and secure it with an Allen key. The setting cannot be exceeded accidentally. The flow rate can be read directly from the kv/position graph or measured using a PFM 100 / PFM 1000 flow meter connected to the needle measuring ports. The MSV-F2 also serves as a shut-off valve, so there is no need to install a separate isolating valve for servicing.
Technical parameters DN 50 PN 25:
The kVS value for the MSV-F2 DN 50 is 53.8 m³/h – this is the flow rate with the valve fully open and a differential pressure of 1 bar. In practice, the valve is set to a lower position value (1–6) according to the required flow rate. The specific kv for each position can be found in the graph in the datasheet or on the PFM 1000 flow meter.
The handle with integrated stroke limiter is turned to the required position (1–6 for DN 50) and secured with an Allen key. The position indicator is included with the valve as standard. If the setting needs to be fully locked (to prevent unintended changes), the limiter can be secured so that the handle can only be turned up to the preset maximum value.
Yes, the valve is designed for water and aqueous mixtures with secondary refrigerants, such as glycols, in closed heating and cooling circuits. The operating temperature range is –10 °C to 150 °C (PN 25). When using a glycol mixture, the flow rate must be corrected using a correction factor according to the glycol content – the table of correction factors is given in the datasheet. Danfoss recommends verifying compatibility of the specific medium with the sealing materials (EPDM) with the medium supplier.
Danfoss recommends a straight length of 5D upstream of the valve and 2D downstream of the valve (D = nominal pipe diameter). Failure to observe these lengths causes turbulence, which may affect flow measurement accuracy by up to 20%. The valve must be installed in the direction of the arrow on the body – the inlet must correspond to the flow direction.
