Danfoss MSV-F2 DN 65 PN 25 is a manual presetting (balancing) valve with flanged connection for closed heating and cooling systems. It is used for hydraulic balancing of flow in branches, risers and terminal units. The valve is supplied as standard with a position indicator and stroke limiter; the setting can be mechanically locked.
The MSV-F2 is designed for industrial and commercial heating and cooling systems – typically on branches and risers in larger buildings, in district heating substations or cooling plant rooms. The flanged design to EN 1092-2 and PN 25 pressure rating make it a suitable choice wherever threaded connections are insufficient in terms of capacity or pressure. The valve can be installed on either the flow or return pipework.

The handwheel is integrated directly with the stroke limiter – once the required flow value has been set, the position can be mechanically locked to prevent unintended changes to the setting. The current position can be read from the direct indicator on the valve. Flow setting is carried out using a Danfoss PFM 1000 or PFM 100 measuring instrument.
The valve is intended for water and water mixtures with secondary refrigerants (e.g. glycols) in closed systems. For flow calculation with glycol mixtures, the datasheet specifies correction factors – for example, with 30% ethylene glycol the flow is multiplied by a coefficient of 0.953. To ensure measurement accuracy, it is recommended to maintain straight pipe lengths of 5× DN upstream of the valve and 2× DN downstream. The valve is equipped with a shut-off function.

Technical parameters of the MSV-F2 DN 65 PN 25 (003Z1071):
The flow is set using the handwheel according to the nomogram in the datasheet or directly with a Danfoss PFM 100 or PFM 1000 measuring instrument. The instrument is connected to the needle measuring points (supplied with the valve as standard), reads the differential pressure and calculates the actual flow rate. Once set, the handwheel position can be locked with the stroke limiter.
Yes, the valve has a shut-off function. Tightness complies with Class A to ISO 5208, Table 5 – no visible leakage. However, its primary purpose is hydraulic balancing; for regular opening and closing, a combination with a dedicated shut-off valve is more suitable.
Yes, the MSV-F2 is designed for water and water mixtures with secondary refrigerants, including glycol, in closed systems. When using a glycol mixture, the flow must be corrected by the relevant coefficient (e.g. 0.953 for 30% ethylene glycol). Danfoss recommends verifying the compatibility of the specific refrigerant with the valve materials with the fluid supplier.
Danfoss recommends maintaining a straight pipe length of 5× DN upstream of the valve and 2× DN downstream. Failure to follow this recommendation may cause turbulence, which can affect flow measurement accuracy by up to 20%.
The main differences are in the maximum operating pressure and medium temperature. The PN 16 version is designed for up to max. 130 °C and a max. pressure drop during throttling of 1.5 bar. The PN 25 version (this product) can handle medium temperatures up to 150 °C and a pressure drop during throttling of up to 2.0 bar. For DN 65, the flange dimensions differ in the number of bolt holes: PN 16 has 4 holes, PN 25 has 8 holes.
