Danfoss MSV-F2 DN 80 PN 25 is a manual presetting (balancing) valve with flanged connection, designed for hydraulic balancing of heating and cooling systems. The valve enables precise flow setting in a given branch and allows this setting to be locked, preventing unwanted changes to the hydraulic operating conditions of the system.
The MSV-F2 is intended for medium-sized and large heating and cooling systems – typically as a balancing component on risers, branches or in plant rooms. The DN 80 flanged version is suitable for pipework in industrial buildings, office buildings, hospitals or production halls, where flow in individual circuits needs to be balanced reliably. The valve can be installed in both the flow and return pipework.

As standard, the valve handwheel is equipped with a position indicator and an integrated stroke limiter. The set flow value can be locked using a fixing screw, so that neither the operator nor an unauthorised person can change the setting without using tools. DN 80 offers a setting range from position 1 (kv 5.8 m³/h) up to fully open – position 9.5 (kv 122.3 m³/h).
The valve is supplied as standard with needle measuring nipples, allowing connection of the portable Danfoss PFM 100 or PFM 1000 flow meter. Flow can therefore be measured directly on site without the need for dismantling. For use with glycol mixtures, the datasheet specifies correction factors for flow recalculation (e.g. 30% glycol: factor 0.953).

Technical parameters – MSV-F2 DN 80 PN 25 (003Z1072):
The PN 25 version (003Z1072) can handle an operating temperature of up to 150 °C and a maximum pressure drop during throttling of 2.0 bar. The PN 16 version (003Z1063) is limited to 130 °C and 1.5 bar. The kVS values are identical for DN 80 (122.3 m³/h); only the flange drilling pattern differs for larger DN sizes. For steam or high-temperature heating systems, choose PN 25.
The required flow is set by turning the handwheel to the relevant position (for DN 80, range 1–9.5; the kv value table is given in the datasheet). Once set, the position is locked with an Allen screw in the stroke limiter – the setting then cannot be changed without deliberate unlocking. The setting can be calculated directly using the nomogram in the datasheet or with the PFM 100/1000 flow meter.
Yes, the MSV-F2 is designed for water as well as water mixtures with antifreeze additives (glycols) in closed systems. When using glycol, the flow must be recalculated using a correction factor – for example, for 30% ethylene glycol the factor is 0.953. Compatibility of the specific glycol with the valve materials (EPDM seal, cast iron body) must be verified with the additive supplier.
Danfoss recommends a straight pipe length of 5D upstream of the valve and 2D downstream (where D = pipe diameter, i.e. for DN 80 approx. 400 mm upstream and 160 mm downstream of the valve). Failure to comply with this recommendation may affect flow measurement accuracy by up to 20%. The valve must be installed in the direction of the arrow on the body. For DN 200–400, it must not be installed with the handwheel facing downwards.
Standard needle measuring nipples with O-ring (003Z0104, 2 pcs), 45 mm nipple extension pieces (003Z0103), pressure-mountable nipples (003Z3946), and portable PFM 100 (003L8260) or PFM 1000 (003Z8260 for 10 bar, 003Z8261 for 20 bar) flow meters are available for the valve. For DN 65–150, replacement handwheel 003Z0180 is available.
