The Evikontroll μGas E871C control unit is designed for monitoring gas concentrations and detecting leaks in various types of operations. The system supports the connection of up to 32 gas sensors via the RS-485 network, allowing for central management and efficient control.

In addition to gas detectors, the device can also connect to temperature and humidity sensors, enabling comprehensive monitoring of all critical factors in operation. The control unit features 4 analogue outputs that can display the aggregate gas concentration in a given area, facilitating the monitoring of various gas levels in the environment. Additionally, digital inputs are available for further automation and integration with other systems.

The device is equipped with an integrated web server for easy configuration, maintenance, and calibration. Thanks to WiFi connectivity, it is easy to monitor and adjust the device settings remotely via a PC, tablet, or mobile phone. However, it is not a Cloud solution, but the μGas E871C connects via a fixed IP address.

Alarm Settings

Users can set 3 independent alarm levels and simultaneously choose the specific relay logic that will be used for each level.

In addition to these levels, the system also has pre-set special alarms for:

• Short-term exposure limit (STEL – 15-minute average)
• Long-term exposure limit (TWA – 8-hour average)

Relays and Expansion

The device is equipped with 8x independent SPDT relays that users can individually configure for all set alarms.

Expansion relay module E125-8R

The number of output relays can be increased by connecting up to 3 units of the E7125-8R series via the RS-485 bus. Each expansion unit E7125-8R is also equipped with 8 independent SPDT relays.

Analogue Outputs

Evikontroll μGas offers 4 analogue outputs that can be set to display the total level of gas concentration in a group. Users can configure multiple channels into one analogue output, with the control unit displaying the maximum value from the measured concentrations of different gases according to their measuring range.

This allows users to easily monitor the overall level of various gases in the environment in the range of 4–20mA and continuously control the frequency converter of the ventilation system.

Digital Inputs

Evikontroll μGas is equipped with 4 digital inputs that can be used either as a remote system reset or to trigger a fault condition using volt-free contacts.

For example, in the case of powering the control unit via UPS, it is possible to connect the UPS signal contact for battery operation, ensuring that the control unit deliberately activates the fault signal via the relay.

Connection Topology

When connecting the Evikontroll μGas E871C control unit, there are two options available. The choice of suitable connection depends on the specific application requirements and the number of connected sensors. Bus connection is ideal for new installations as it offers simple implementation and represents an economical solution, especially in terms of cabling. Conversely, star connection is more often used during reconstructions when it is necessary to integrate existing cabling from an older detection system. However, before using existing cabling, it is essential to review its compatibility with the 4-20mA analogue signal.

The Evikontroll μGas E871C control unit is supplied with pre-installed firmware and is ready for user configuration. The settings are provided in English and are accessible according to the enclosed manual. Although the setup process is relatively intuitive, we offer the option to order pre-configuration from us.
