Honeywell DCMV10 is a mechanical pressure switch for liquids and gases with an adjustable switching differential. It is used to monitor overpressure in piping systems and switches a single-pole changeover contact when the set pressure is reached. The setting range is 1–10 bar, with a maximum permissible operating pressure of up to 25 bar.

Where the switch is used

The DCMV10 is designed for general mechanical engineering, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, printing machinery and industrial applications where overpressure in liquids or gases needs to be monitored. It is typically used to protect pumps and compressors (switching when pressure falls below or exceeds the set value), signal faults in pipework, or control two-position regulation. The switch can be mounted directly on a G 1/2" pipe connection or on a flat surface using two screws.

Adjustable switching differential

Unlike the basic DCM series, the DCMV10 version allows the switching differential (hysteresis) to be adjusted externally with a screwdriver without removing the switch. The differential can be continuously adjusted within a range of 0.5–2.8 bar, making it possible to adapt the switching frequency to the specific application – for example, reducing the number of pump switching cycles by increasing the hysteresis. The switching point itself remains unchanged; only the upper cut-out point is shifted.

Stainless steel bellows sensor without seals

The pressure section of the switch consists of a stainless steel bellows sensor made of 1.4571 steel, with a housing of the same material. The part in contact with the medium contains no seals – the sensor is hermetically welded without filler materials. The bellows has an internal mechanical stop to prevent overload in the event of a short-term pressure exceedance. This ensures high reliability and a long service life even in demanding operating conditions.

Frequently asked questions

In the basic DCM10 version, the switching differential (hysteresis) is fixed by the manufacturer and cannot be changed. The DCMV10 version adds the option of adjusting the differential externally with a screwdriver within a range of 0.5–2.8 bar, without having to remove the switch. All other parameters – the 1–10 bar setting range, protection rating, contacts and materials – are identical for both versions.

The switching pressure is set by turning the adjustment spindle externally with a screwdriver – the scale on the switch body indicates the set value. Before adjustment, the locking pin above the scale must be loosened (max. 2 turns) and then tightened again after setting. The switch is factory-calibrated for falling pressure (the switching point corresponds to the value on the scale at falling pressure). For precise adjustment, the manufacturer recommends using a reference pressure gauge. The differential is adjusted by a separate screw inside the spindle.

Yes, DCM/DCMV series switches can also be operated in the vacuum range without damage. However, when used in vacuum applications, care must be taken to determine the correct direction of action: “falling” pressure in the vacuum range means increasing vacuum. In such cases, precise definition of the switching point and direction of action is essential for correct operation.

Yes. The basic DCMV10 version has an IP 54 protection rating with plug connection. The version with terminal connection (suffix -301) achieves IP 65 protection. For hazardous areas, Ex-i (Zone 1, suffix -500) and Ex-d (suffix -700) versions are available, both certified to IBExU12ATEX1040. However, on Ex versions it is not possible to adjust the differential (hysteresis) – in such cases it is fixed.

The switch is designed for liquids and gases in general. The wetted parts are oil- and grease-free as standard, and the sensor is hermetically welded and contains no seals. For applications requiring special oil-free packaging, service function ZF1979 can be ordered separately. Suitability for specific aggressive media or food industry applications should be verified with the manufacturer.
