Honeywell DCMV16 is a mechanical pressure switch for liquids and gases from the DCM/DNM series. It switches an electrical circuit when the set overpressure is reached and is used for the protection or control of equipment in pneumatics, hydraulics and general mechanical engineering. The switching differential can be adjusted externally with a screwdriver without the need for dismantling.
The DCMV16 is suitable wherever overpressure of a liquid or gas needs to be monitored within the range of 3–16 bar. Typical applications include hydraulic and pneumatic systems, printing machinery, industrial water distribution systems and compressors. The switch can be installed directly into the pressure line or mounted on a flat surface using two screws – both mounting options are supported. Thanks to its IP54 protection rating, it can also cope with dusty operating environments.


On the DCMV16 model, the switching differential (hysteresis) can be adjusted in the range of 0.7–3.5 bar directly from the outside using a screwdriver – without removing the switch from the system. This makes it possible to adapt the switching frequency to the specific application, for example for pump or burner control. The pressure sensor consists of a stainless steel 1.4571 bellows element in a 1.4104 steel housing – seal-free, welded without filler material, with a long service life and minimal switching point drift. The pressure-tight aluminium housing withstands environments with high humidity or the presence of salt mist.
Technical specification:
Both the switching pressure and the differential are adjusted externally with a screwdriver, without removing the switch from the system. The switching pressure is set using the adjustment spindle on the scale, while the differential is set by a separate screw within the range of 0.7–3.5 bar. The DCMV16 is calibrated for falling pressure – the value on the scale corresponds to the switching point when pressure falls, while the reset point is higher by the value of the set differential.
The DCM16 has a fixed, non-adjustable switching differential (0.2–0.6 bar according to the manufacturer). The DCMV16 is the version with an adjustable differential (0.7–3.5 bar), suitable for control functions – for example switching a pump or burner, where the switching frequency needs to be controlled by changing the hysteresis. If the switch is used only as a limiter (protection against pressure exceedance), an adjustable differential is not necessary.
The switch has a standard pressure connection to DIN 16 288 – G 1/2 male thread. Alternatively, a G 1/4 female thread to ISO 228 can be used. The maximum screw-in depth for the G 1/4 female thread is 9 mm. Mounting is possible directly on the pressure line or on a flat surface using two screws with a diameter of 4 mm.
The maximum medium temperature at the sensor location must not exceed the permissible ambient temperature of the switching device, i.e. normally +70 °C (short-term peaks up to +85 °C are permissible). For higher-temperature media – for example steam – a siphon or other measure must be used to ensure that the temperature at the sensor does not exceed the permissible limit. Direct use on a steam line without siphon cooling is not recommended.
The entire DCM/DNM series carries SIL 2 certification to IEC 61508-2. This means the switches can be incorporated into safety systems requiring Safety Integrity Level 2 – for example in the process industry or mechanical engineering applications with functional safety requirements.
