Honeywell DCMV25 is a mechanical pressure switch for monitoring overpressure, with an adjustable switching differential. It is used to monitor pressure in pneumatic and hydraulic systems as well as in general mechanical engineering applications – when the set pressure is exceeded or falls below the set value, the microswitch changes over and sends a signal to the control circuit. The setting range is 4–25 bar, while the switching differential can be adjusted with a screwdriver in the range 1.3–6.0 bar directly from the outside without dismantling the device.

Where the DCMV25 pressure switch is used

The DCMV25 is designed for industrial applications where the pressure of liquids or gases needs to be monitored within the 4–25 bar range. Typical uses include pneumatic and hydraulic circuits in engineering plants, printing machinery, compressor stations and industrial production lines. Thanks to its stainless steel sensor (1.4571 bellows, 1.4104 sensor body) and hermetically welded design without seals, the device is also suitable for media with cleanliness requirements – water, air, neutral gases and oils.

Adjustable switching differential without dismantling

Unlike the DCM series models (without the “V”), the DCMV25 allows the switching differential (hysteresis) to be adjusted with a screwdriver directly from the outside of the device – without the need to open the cover or disconnect the unit. The differential is adjustable in the range 1.3–6.0 bar, making it possible to define both the switch-on point and the switch-off point precisely. This is particularly useful in applications where the switch controls a compressor or pump and you need to manage the switching frequency.

Flexible installation and robust construction

The switch can be connected directly to the pressure pipework via a G 1/2" male thread (connection to DIN 16 288) or alternatively via a G 1/4" female thread. The instrument housing is made of pressure die-cast GD Al Si 12 aluminium, resistant to seawater. IP54 protection in the vertical position ensures resistance to dust and splashing water. The device can be installed in either a vertical or horizontal position.

Frequently asked questions

Both models have the same 4–25 bar setting range, but they differ in switching differential. On the DCM25, the differential is fixed by the manufacturer (0.3–1.1 bar, non-adjustable). On the DCMV25, the differential is adjustable in the range 1.3–6.0 bar with a screwdriver directly from the outside without dismantling the device. The DCMV25 should therefore be chosen wherever you need to control the switching frequency or define hysteresis more precisely – for example when controlling a compressor or pump.

The switch is connected either directly to the pipework via a G 1/2" male thread (pressure gauge connection to DIN 16 288), or alternatively via a G 1/4" female thread to ISO 228-1. It can also be screwed onto a flat surface using two 4 mm diameter screws. The recommended mounting position is vertical or horizontal. The electrical connection depends on the device version – the model with the suffix “…200” has a plug connector connection (DIN EN 175301 Form A), while the “…300” version has a terminal block connection.

The switching pressure is set using the adjusting spindle (the set value is shown on the scale). Before adjustment, the locking pin above the scale must be loosened by no more than 2 turns and then tightened again after setting. A reference pressure gauge must be used for precise adjustment of the switching points. The differential is adjusted using the internal adjusting screw inside the spindle – one turn changes the differential by approximately a quarter of the total range. Note: the DCMV25 is calibrated for falling pressure, meaning that the set value on the scale corresponds to the switch-on point at falling pressure. The switch-off point is higher by the differential.

Yes, the entire DCM/DNM series is certified to SIL 2 in accordance with IEC 61508-2. This means these switches can be used as part of safety instrumented systems (SIS) in engineering and industrial operations. For applications in hazardous areas, an Ex-DCM variant must be selected – the standard DCMV25 is not intended for ATEX environments.

With a sinusoidal pressure profile and at room temperature, the sensor achieves a service life of 10 × 10⁶ switching cycles. The microswitch is rated for 100,000 cycles at the nominal current of 8 A / 250 VAC – reducing the contact load significantly extends its service life. The maximum medium temperature at the sensor is 70 °C (85 °C for short periods). For higher medium temperatures, a siphon or other measures must be used to ensure that the temperature at the sensor does not exceed the permissible limit.
