Honeywell NK295C is a compact filling and top-up combination for closed heating systems. In a single body, it integrates a system separator (type CA to DIN EN 1717), a pressure reducing valve with pressure gauge, and two ball valves – everything required for standards-compliant filling of a heating system.

Where the NK295C is used

The NK295C combination is designed for permanent connection of a heating system to the drinking water supply in boiler rooms of apartment buildings, family houses and commercial properties. It enables safe topping up of heating water when system pressure drops, while the system separator to DIN EN 1717 reliably protects the drinking water supply against backflow of contaminated water from the heating system. This valve assembly is suitable wherever a permanent connection of the filling line is required without the need for manual disconnection.

System separator and drinking water protection

The integrated BA category system separator (fluid category 3 to DIN EN 1717) prevents backflow, backsiphonage and reverse flow of contaminated water from the heating system into the water supply network. The separator is divided into three chambers (upstream, intermediate and downstream pressure chambers). If the differential pressure between the intermediate and upstream chambers falls below 10% of the inlet pressure, it switches to the separation position and opens the discharge valve. It also includes an integrated dirt trap with a 0.5 mm mesh on the inlet side.

Pressure reducing valve with inlet pressure compensation

The integrated pressure reducing valve reduces the inlet pressure (1.5–10 bar) to the set outlet pressure (1.5–6 bar) and keeps it constant regardless of pressure fluctuations on the supply side. It operates on the principle of force balance: the outlet pressure acts on a diaphragm against a spring, so fluctuating inlet pressure has no effect on the set downstream pressure. The outlet pressure can be adjusted manually and read continuously on the integrated pressure gauge.

Technical parameters:

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Thanks to the type BA system separator to DIN EN 1717 (fluid category 3), the combination can be permanently connected to the drinking water supply by hose or pipework. The separator prevents backflow and contamination of the water supply network under all operating conditions.

The outlet pressure (Hinterdruck) is adjusted manually using the rotary adjustment cap (Verstellgriff) on the body of the pressure reducing valve. The set value can be read continuously on the integrated pressure gauge. The adjustment range is 1.5–6 bar.

The NK295C is installed in horizontal pipework with the discharge connection (40 mm) facing downwards. A straight calming length of at least 5 × DN must be maintained downstream of the valve assembly in accordance with DIN EN 806-2. The installation location must be well ventilated, frost-protected and accessible for checking the pressure gauge. The dirt trap is integrated – a separate filter is not required. Installation may only be carried out by an authorised specialist contractor.

No. The datasheet explicitly states that the medium must be water without inhibitors only. The use of heating water with added chemical corrosion inhibitors or other additives is not intended for the NK295C and may lead to damage to the seals or functional components.

Yes, according to DIN EN 806-5, the NK295C is a valve assembly subject to maintenance. The manufacturer states that servicing requirements are low – it includes an integrated dirt trap that protects the functional components against foreign particles. Regular inspection must be ensured by installing the valve assembly in an accessible location; a direct view of the pressure gauge is recommended for monitoring pressure conditions.
