Honeywell XI40B25 is a three-way linear control valve with an Rp 1½" female thread (DN 40) for mixing or shutting off the flow of heating and chilled water. The valve, with a brass body and 20 mm stroke, is designed for operation with ML64... or ML74... series electric linear actuators and provides precise proportional temperature control in heating, air handling and air conditioning systems.
The XI40B25 valve is used in industrial and commercial installations where the flow of heating or chilled water in open circuits needs to be controlled. It is typically installed in heat exchangers, air handling units, fan coils and central air conditioning distribution systems. Thanks to its nominal flow rate of Kvs 25 and DN 40 connection, it is suitable for medium-sized and larger distribution systems in office buildings, industrial facilities and hotels. The valve can also be used with glycol mixtures (aqueous solution in accordance with VDI 2035).

Port A–AB has an equal percentage characteristic, while port B–AB is linear. This allows the valve to be adapted to different control schemes without the need to purchase a different valve type. The control range (rangeability) reaches 50:1, so the valve operates reliably even at small stroke openings. Seat leakage is ≤ 0.05% of the Kvs value.
The valve body is made of brass and the stem of stainless steel. The packing consists of self-adjusting PTFE V-rings reinforced with carbon fibres, which require neither adjustment nor regular replacement. On DN 40, the seat flange connection is integrated directly into the valve body. The flow direction is marked by an arrow on the body – the valve must not be installed with the stem below the horizontal position.
Technical parameters:
The valve is designed for Honeywell ML64... and ML74... series electric linear actuators with a 20 mm stroke. For three-point or floating control, ML6420A (600 N, 230/24 V AC) and ML6421 (1,800 N, 230 V AC) actuators are used; for 0/2–10 V modulating control, ML7420A and ML7421 actuators are used. Versions with a fail-safe spring are also available – ML6425 and ML7425.
XE denotes the version with a male thread (according to DIN 2999), while XI denotes the version with a female thread (according to ISO 228). For DN 40, this means a G 2¼" male thread on the XE40B25 and an Rp 1½" female thread on the XI40B25. Both versions have identical hydraulic parameters and differ only in the method of pipe connection.
Yes. The valve is certified for operation with chilled water as well as water-glycol mixtures in accordance with VDI 2035. In alternating heating and cooling operation, the temperature difference between the two media must not exceed 60 K. The lower operating temperature limit is 2 °C and the upper limit is 170 °C (at a reduced max. pressure of 1,490 kPa).
The valve must not be installed with the stem below the horizontal position. The flow direction must correspond to the arrow marked on the body. The manufacturer strongly recommends installing a strainer upstream of the valve to prevent dirt from settling in the seat and to extend the service life of the packing. Connection accessories (ASV-CS-40-I-F union sets) are available as separate accessories.
