Resideo 0904143 valve insert is a complete replacement cartridge insert for the BA295S backflow preventer in threaded sizes R 1½" and 2". It includes the inlet check valve and discharge valve in one assembly and is intended for service replacement of worn or damaged parts without the need to dismantle the entire backflow preventer body.
The insert is designed for servicing installed BA295S backflow preventers in drinking water systems – typically in apartment buildings, industrial facilities and commercial properties. It is used wherever, after a routine inspection (recommended every 1–3 years), the backflow preventer requires replacement of internal components due to seal wear, O-ring damage or a fault in the discharge valve. Replacing the insert extends the service life of the entire backflow preventer and restores full drinking water protection functionality.

Cartridge insert 0904143 combines the inlet check valve and discharge valve in a single complete insert. During servicing, it is sufficient to isolate the pressure, remove the cover and pull out or clip the insert back in – without dismantling it into individual parts. The discharge valve of the BA295S backflow preventer opens at the latest when the differential pressure drops to 0.14 bar, thereby protecting the pipework network against backflow. Replacing the insert alone restores this function without any intervention in the pipework.
Insert 0904143 is intended for BA295S backflow preventers in threaded sizes R 1½" and R 2" (both A and AGB versions). Separate parts are available for smaller sizes: insert 0904141 is used for the ½", ¾" and 1" B version, while insert 0904142 is used for the 1" A version and 1¼".
The manufacturer recommends a service inspection of the backflow preventer every 1–3 years depending on local operating conditions. If the inspection reveals O-ring damage, a leaking discharge valve or contamination of the insert, replacement is necessary. Servicing must be carried out by a qualified installation company.
The insert can be cleaned if contaminated. When cleaning plastic parts, do not use cleaning agents containing solvents or alcohol, as these could damage the material. If the O-ring is mechanically damaged or the discharge valve is leaking, the entire insert must be replaced.
Yes, insert 0904143 is exclusively for the BA295S model. The older BA295 model (without the letter S) uses different spare parts with different order numbers. They are not interchangeable – always check the model designation on the nameplate of the installed backflow preventer before ordering.
