GSH-CL2 is a pre-calibrated sensor module for the E2639-GSH detector and is designed to measure chlorine in ambient air within a range of 0–10 ppm. It connects via an M12 connector and can be replaced while live without opening the detector housing. An integrated calibration calendar monitors the date of the next calibration, while the calibration itself can be carried out separately from the installed E2639 main unit using the SSC configurator.
The GSH-CL2 sensor is intended for monitoring chlorine in environments such as water treatment and wastewater treatment plants, swimming pools and water parks, chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories, industrial production facilities, and other enclosed spaces where Cl₂ may accumulate.
Chlorine is a greenish-yellow gas with a pungent, irritating odour, the presence of which in the air can be detected by smell even at low concentrations. In enclosed spaces, it can accumulate to dangerous concentrations, and at higher levels it severely irritates the mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Exposure to higher concentrations of chlorine may cause burning eyes, coughing, shortness of breath, or pulmonary oedema, and prolonged exposure may result in damage to the respiratory system, chemical burns to the mucous membranes, and, in the case of extremely high concentrations, even danger to life.
The smart sensor offers a major advantage during calibration – the entire process can be carried out separately from the installed detector. While the E2639-GSH main unit remains in operation at the installation site, the GSH sensor module can be removed and calibrated independently – at the distributor’s premises, the integrator’s premises, or directly at the Evikon MCI manufacturer. A dedicated SSC configurator is used for this purpose, through which the module is connected to a computer. Once calibrated, the GSH module simply needs to be plugged back in via the M12 connector – without opening the instrument housing, without complicated procedures, and without downtime for the entire installation.
Each sensor package includes the manufacturer’s original calibration certificate in English, confirming the accuracy and correctness of the measurements at the time of manufacture.
