Typical applications

The E2639-VOC(C2H6O) detector is intended for monitoring ethanol in environments such as breweries, wineries, distilleries, pharmaceutical production facilities, disinfection operations, laboratories, and storage areas for alcoholic products or cleaning agents, as well as other enclosed spaces where vapours of this volatile and flammable solvent may accumulate.

Ethanol (C2H6O)

Ethanol is a volatile and flammable liquid whose vapours spread easily through the air and can build up to dangerous concentrations in enclosed spaces. Although it has a characteristic alcoholic odour, this cannot be fully relied upon for leak detection, as the sense of smell becomes dulled during prolonged exposure and no longer perceives it reliably. Exposure to higher concentrations of ethanol vapour may cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, or respiratory irritation, and prolonged or intense exposure may result in damage to the liver and central nervous system. Due to its flammability, it also presents a significant fire and explosion risk.

Smart communication – ideal for fire alarm systems

The E2639 detector combines the benefits of an autonomous safety device and an intelligent communication node. It is designed for seamless integration with fire alarm systems (EPS) and offers a wide range of outputs for comprehensive control:

• Autonomy: 3× volt-free SPDT relays for direct control of equipment or safe system shutdown.
• Connectivity: Dual RS485 Modbus RTU interface for real-time digital export of measured data to a higher-level system (BMS).
• Control: 2× 4–20 mA analogue outputs intended for precise control of the ventilation frequency inverter.

Easy installation

The E2639 is equipped with three M20 cable glands and a dual terminal block for Modbus RTU. The duplicated Modbus RTU terminals help simplify and speed up bus wiring for reading into a higher-level system. No more inserting two conductors into a single terminal. Thanks to the M20 cable glands, all required outputs can be connected conveniently.
