Evikon E2639-HFC(R454b) is a detector designed for monitoring high concentrations of R454b refrigerant in ambient air. The device is equipped with a temperature-compensated sensor that ensures reliable detection and stable measurement, and it is housed in a wall-mounted enclosure with IP65 protection. The E2639 features three SPDT relays with a maximum load of 250 VAC 5 A. Two relays are used for so-called two-stage detection. The third relay indicates a sensor fault. Communication with higher-level systems is provided via the RS485 Modbus RTU digital interface, complemented by two 4–20 mA analogue outputs. In addition, the device includes four LEDs and an audible alarm, which immediately alert operators to any exceeded threshold directly at the installation site – without the need to monitor a remote control system.
The E2639-HFC(R454b) detector is intended for monitoring R454b refrigerant in environments such as air-conditioning plant rooms, refrigeration facilities, server rooms, shopping centres and other enclosed spaces where cooling systems or heat pumps using this refrigerant are installed. The device helps prevent risks associated with refrigerant leaks, such as fire hazards or reduced oxygen levels in confined spaces, and contributes to operational safety and compliance with relevant regulations.


R454b is a synthetic refrigerant with a faintly sweet odour, composed of a blend of R32 and R1234yf, developed as an environmentally friendly replacement for the traditional R410A refrigerant with its high global warming potential. Unlike its predecessor, it has a significantly lower GWP and a shorter atmospheric lifetime. Although it is classified as mildly flammable, in the event of a leak in enclosed spaces it may, under certain conditions, reach flammable concentrations, and therefore its presence requires reliable detection.
The E2639 detector combines the advantages of an autonomous safety device and an intelligent communication node. It is designed for seamless integration with fire alarm systems (EPS) and offers a wide range of outputs for comprehensive control:


The E2639 is equipped with three M20 cable glands and a dual terminal block for Modbus RTU. The duplicated Modbus RTU terminals simplify and speed up bus wiring for data readout to a higher-level system. No more inserting two conductors into a single terminal. Thanks to the M20 cable glands, all required outputs can be connected conveniently.
