GSH-H2S is a pre-calibrated sensor module for the E2639-GSH detector and is used to measure hydrogen sulphide in the 0–100 ppm range. It connects via an M12 connector and can be hot-swapped without opening the detector housing. An integrated calibration calendar monitors the date of the next calibration, while the calibration itself can be carried out separately from the installed E2639 main unit using the SSC configurator.
The GSH-H2S sensor is designed for monitoring hydrogen sulphide in environments such as wastewater treatment plants, sewer systems, paper mills, chemical plants, oil and natural gas processing facilities, and other industrial operations where this toxic gas may accumulate. The device helps prevent health risks associated with exposure to hydrogen sulphide and contributes to ensuring the safety of both personnel and operations.

Hydrogen sulphide is a colourless gas that can be recognised even at very low concentrations by its characteristic rotten egg smell. At higher concentrations, however, it causes olfactory paralysis, so its presence cannot be reliably detected without a detector. It is formed mainly during the biological decomposition of organic matter containing sulphur, typically in sewers, wastewater treatment plants, agricultural operations, or during the extraction and processing of oil and natural gas. Exposure to hydrogen sulphide can cause irritation of the mucous membranes, nausea, or headaches even at low levels, while high concentrations pose an immediate threat to life.
The smart sensor offers a major advantage during calibration – the entire process can be carried out separately from the installed detector. While the E2639-GSH main unit remains in operation at the installation site, the GSH sensor module can be removed and calibrated independently – at the distributor’s premises, the integrator’s facility, or directly at the manufacturer Evikon MCI. This is done using the dedicated SSC configurator, through which the module is connected to a computer. Once calibrated, the GSH module simply slides back into place via the M12 connector – without opening the device housing, without complicated procedures, and without any downtime for the entire installation.

Each detector package includes the manufacturer’s original calibration certificate in English, confirming the accuracy and correctness of the measurements at the time of manufacture.
