GSH-(C2H6O) is a pre-calibrated sensor module for the E2639-GSH detector and is designed for measuring ethanol in the range of 0–100% LEL. It connects via an M12 connector and can be hot-swapped without opening the detector housing. An integrated calibration calendar monitors the date of the next calibration, while the calibration itself can be carried out separately from the installed E2639 main unit using the SSC configurator.
The GSH-VOC(C2H6O)-LEL sensor is intended for monitoring ethanol in environments such as breweries, wineries, distilleries, pharmaceutical production facilities, disinfection operations, laboratories, and storage areas for alcoholic products or cleaning agents, as well as other enclosed spaces where vapours of this volatile and flammable solvent may accumulate.

Ethanol is a volatile and flammable liquid whose vapours disperse easily through the air and can build up to dangerous concentrations in enclosed spaces. Although it has a characteristic alcoholic odour, this cannot be fully relied upon for leak detection, as the sense of smell becomes dulled during prolonged exposure and ceases to perceive it reliably. Exposure to higher concentrations of ethanol vapour may cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, or respiratory irritation, and prolonged or intense exposure may result in damage to the liver and central nervous system. Due to its flammability, it also presents a significant fire and explosion risk.
The smart sensor offers a major advantage during calibration – the entire process can be carried out separately from the installed detector. While the E2639 main unit remains in operation at the installation site, the GSH sensor module can be removed and calibrated independently – at the distributor’s premises, the integrator’s facilities, or directly at the manufacturer Evikon MCI. This is done using the dedicated SSC configurator, through which the module is connected to a computer. Once calibrated, the GSH module simply needs to be plugged back in via the M12 connector – without opening the instrument housing, without complicated procedures, and without interrupting the entire installation.

Each sensor package includes the manufacturer’s original calibration certificate in English, confirming the accuracy and correctness of the measurements at the time of leaving the factory.
