GSH-PID-40 is a pre-calibrated sensor module for the E2639-GSH detector, designed for measuring volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with an ionisation potential below 10.6 eV in the range of 0–40 ppm. The module connects via an M12 connector and can be hot-swapped without the need to open the detector housing. The integrated calibration calendar automatically monitors the date of the next calibration; the calibration itself can be carried out separately from the installed E2639 main unit using the SSC configurator.

Typical applications

The GSH-PID-40 sensor is intended for monitoring volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in environments such as paint shops and spray booths, where solvents and thinners are used, as well as chemical and pharmaceutical production facilities, printing works and graphic arts operations, filling stations and fuel storage facilities, laboratories and research workplaces, and other enclosed spaces where harmful organic vapours may accumulate.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

Volatile organic compounds are a group of chemical compounds that readily evaporate into the air under normal conditions and may be either colourless or coloured, with many of them characterised by a strong or aromatic odour. Even short-term exposure to higher concentrations of VOCs may cause irritation of the eyes, nose and respiratory tract, headaches or dizziness, while long-term exposure to certain compounds is associated with more serious health risks, including damage to the liver, kidneys or nervous system.

Easy installation

The smart sensor offers a major advantage during calibration – the entire process can be carried out separately from the installed detector. While the E2639-GSH main unit remains in operation at the installation site, the GSH sensor module can be removed and calibrated independently – at the distributor’s premises, the integrator’s premises, or directly at the manufacturer Evikon MCI. A dedicated SSC configurator is used for this purpose, through which the module is connected to a computer. Once calibrated, the GSH module simply needs to be plugged back in via the M12 connector – without opening the instrument housing, without complicated procedures, and without downtime for the entire installation.
