E2639-H2S is a detector designed for monitoring high concentrations of carbon monoxide in the air. The device is equipped with a temperature-compensated sensor that ensures reliable detection and stable measurement, and it is housed in a wall-mounted enclosure with IP65 protection. The E2639 features three SPDT relays with a maximum load of 250VAC 5A. Two relays are used for so-called two-stage detection. The third relay indicates a sensor fault. Communication with higher-level systems is provided via an RS485 Modbus RTU digital interface, supplemented by two 4–20 mA analogue outputs. The version with a Wi-Fi module allows wireless connection of a smartphone or tablet for configuration and calibration via a web interface – with no app installation required. In addition, the device includes four LEDs and an audible alarm, which immediately alert operators to an exceeded set limit directly at the installation site – without the need to monitor a remote control system.

Typical applications

The E2639-H2S detector is designed for monitoring hydrogen sulphide in environments such as wastewater treatment plants, sewer systems, paper mills, chemical plants, oil and natural gas processing facilities, and other industrial operations where this toxic gas may accumulate. The device helps prevent health risks associated with exposure to hydrogen sulphide and contributes to the safety of both personnel and operations.

Hydrogen sulphide (H2S)

Hydrogen sulphide is a colourless gas that can be detected even at very low concentrations by its characteristic rotten egg smell. At higher concentrations, however, it causes paralysis of the sense of smell, so its presence cannot be reliably detected without a detector. It is formed mainly during the biological decomposition of organic substances containing sulphur, typically in sewers, wastewater treatment plants, agricultural operations, or during the extraction and processing of oil and natural gas. Exposure to hydrogen sulphide can cause irritation of the mucous membranes, nausea, or headaches even at low levels, while high concentrations pose an immediate threat to life.

Smart communication – ideal for fire alarm systems

The E2639 detector combines the advantages of an autonomous safety device and an intelligent communication node. It is designed for seamless integration with fire alarm systems (EPS) and offers a wide range of outputs for comprehensive control:

  • Autonomy: 3× volt-free SPDT relays for direct control of equipment or safe system shutdown.
  • Connectivity: Dual RS485 Modbus RTU interface for digital export of measured data in real time to a higher-level system (BMS).
  • Control: 2× 4–20 mA analogue outputs intended for precise control of the ventilation frequency inverter.

WiFi calibration from any smart device

Compared to the standard version, the E2639-WF has an integrated WiFi module that turns calibration and configuration into a matter of minutes – with no tools and no need to remove the cover. The access point is activated using a magnetic key, and the configuration interface opens in the browser of a phone or tablet, with no need to download any app. The interface is password-protected with separate access levels for end users and integrators, so everyone works only within their own section of the settings.

Factory settings:

  • Measuring range: 0...100 ppm
  • ALARM1 (RE1): 25 ppm
  • ALARM2 (RE2): 50 ppm
  • ALARM3 (RE3): sensor fault
    • Automatic alarm reset after ventilation
  • Analogue outputs: 4-20mA = 0...100 ppm
  • ModBus RTU address: Baud rate 9600, Parity None, Stop bits 1, Slave ID 1

Key features

  • Sensor type: Electrochemical sensor
  • Measuring range: 0...100 ppm
  • Resolution: 1 ppm
  • T90 response time: < 30 s
  • Recommended recalibration interval: 6–12 months
  • Estimated sensor lifetime: > 2 years
