Evikon E2639-H2 is a detector designed for monitoring high concentrations of hydrogen in the air. The device is equipped with a temperature-compensated sensor that ensures reliable detection and stable measurement, and it is housed in a wall-mounted enclosure with IP65 protection. The E2639 features three SPDT relays with a maximum load of 250 VAC 5 A. Two relays are used for so-called two-stage detection. The third relay indicates a sensor fault. Communication with higher-level systems is provided via the RS485 Modbus RTU digital interface, complemented by two 4–20 mA analogue outputs. The version with a Wi-Fi module allows wireless connection of a smartphone or tablet for configuration and calibration via a web interface, with no app installation required. In addition, the device includes four LEDs and an audible alarm, which immediately alert operators to any exceeded limit directly at the installation site, without the need to monitor a remote control system.

Typical applications

The E2639-LEL(H2) detector is intended for monitoring hydrogen in industrial and commercial environments such as battery charging rooms, server rooms, gas storage facilities, H2 filling stations, and other areas where flammable gases are handled. The device is used for the early detection of hazardous hydrogen concentrations, helping to ensure equipment safety and minimise the risk of fire or explosion.

Hydrogen (H2)

Hydrogen is the lightest and most abundant element in the universe, characterised by high energy density and clean combustion. When used as a fuel, it produces only water, making it an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels. Hydrogen is often used in fuel cells, which generate electricity to power vehicles or supply energy to various devices.

Smart communication – ideal for fire alarm systems

The E2639 detector combines the advantages of an autonomous safety device and an intelligent communication node. It is designed for seamless integration with fire alarm systems (EPS) and offers a wide range of outputs for comprehensive control:

  • Autonomy: 3× volt-free SPDT relays for direct control of equipment or safe system shutdown.
  • Connectivity: Dual RS485 Modbus RTU interface for real-time digital export of measured data to a higher-level system (BMS).
  • Control: 2× 4–20 mA analogue outputs intended for precise control of the ventilation frequency inverter.

WiFi calibration from any smart device

Compared to the standard version, the E2639-WF features an integrated WiFi module that turns calibration and configuration into a matter of minutes – with no tools and without removing the cover. The access point is activated using a magnetic key, and the configuration interface opens in the browser of a phone or tablet, with no need to download any app. The interface is password-protected with separate access levels for end users and integrators, so each user works only within their own section of the settings.

Factory settings:

  • Measuring range: 0–100%LEL H2
  • ALARM1 (RE1): 10%LEL
  • ALARM2 (RE2): 20%LEL
  • ALARM3 (RE3): sensor fault
    • Automatic alarm reset after ventilation
  • Analogue outputs: 4-20mA = 0-100%LEL H2
  • ModBus RTU address: Baud rate 9600, Parity None, Stop bits 1, Slave ID 1

Key features

  • Sensor type: Semiconductor sensor
  • Measuring range: 0–100%LEL
  • Resolution: 0.1%LEL
  • T90 response time: approx. 60 s
  • Recommended recalibration interval: 12 months
  • Estimated sensor lifetime: > 5 years
  • 1-year warranty on the sensor itself (2 years on the entire device excluding the sensor)

Calibration certificate

Each detector package includes the manufacturer’s original calibration certificate in English, confirming the accuracy and correctness of measurement at the time it leaves the factory.
