Evikon E2639-CH4 is a detector designed for monitoring high concentrations of methane in the air. The device is equipped with a temperature-compensated sensor that ensures reliable detection and stable measurement, and it is housed in a wall-mounted enclosure with IP65 protection. The E2639 features three SPDT relays with a maximum load of 250 VAC 5 A. Two relays are used for so-called two-stage detection. The third relay indicates a sensor fault. Communication with higher-level systems is provided by an RS485 Modbus RTU digital interface, complemented by two 4–20 mA analogue outputs. In addition, the device includes four LEDs and an audible alarm to immediately alert operators when the set limit is exceeded directly at the installation site – without the need to monitor a remote control system.
The E2639-CH4 detector is intended for monitoring methane in environments such as boiler rooms, gas stations, industrial halls, food processing facilities and other enclosed spaces. The device helps prevent risks associated with natural gas leaks and contributes to operational safety. The sensor responds to a wide range of flammable gases, but most accurately to methane, which was used as the calibration gas.

Methane is a colourless, odourless and highly flammable gas that is naturally released during the extraction and distribution of natural gas, in agriculture, the food industry and a number of industrial processes. Its danger lies in the fact that it cannot be detected by human senses – which is why continuous electronic detection is a key safety element wherever leaks may occur.
The E2639 detector combines the advantages of an autonomous safety device and an intelligent communication node. It is designed for seamless integration with fire alarm systems (EPS) and offers a wide range of outputs for comprehensive control:

The E2639 is equipped with three M20 cable glands and a dual terminal block for Modbus RTU. The duplicated Modbus RTU terminals simplify and speed up bus wiring for data acquisition by a higher-level system. No more inserting two conductors into a single terminal. Thanks to the M20 glands, all required outputs can be connected conveniently.
Factory settings:
Each detector package includes the manufacturer’s original calibration certificate in English, confirming the accuracy and correctness of measurement at the time of leaving the factory.
