E2639-NO2 is a detector designed for monitoring high concentrations of nitrogen dioxide in ambient air. The device is equipped with a temperature-compensated sensor that ensures reliable detection and stable measurement, and it is housed in a wall-mounted enclosure with IP65 protection. The E2639 features three SPDT relays with a maximum load of 250VAC 5A. Two relays are used for so-called two-stage detection. The third relay indicates a sensor fault. Communication with higher-level systems is provided by an RS485 Modbus RTU digital interface, complemented by two 4–20 mA analogue outputs. The version with a Wi-Fi module enables wireless connection of a smartphone or tablet for configuration and calibration via a web interface – with no app installation required. In addition, the device includes four LEDs and an audible alarm that immediately alerts operators when the set limit is exceeded directly at the installation site – without the need to monitor a remote control system.

Typical applications

The E2639-NO2 detector is intended for monitoring nitrogen dioxide in environments such as industrial facilities, chemical and analytical laboratories, exhaust and combustion stations, welding workplaces, printing works, and other enclosed spaces where NO2 may accumulate. The device helps prevent health risks associated with exposure to this highly toxic gas and contributes to ensuring the safety of both personnel and operations.

Nitrogen dioxide (NO₂)

Nitrogen dioxide is a reddish-brown toxic gas with a characteristic pungent odour. Its presence in the air can be recognised by smell at higher concentrations, but reliable detection is not possible without a measuring instrument. In enclosed spaces, it can accumulate to dangerous concentrations, and due to its high reactivity it aggressively attacks the respiratory tract even at relatively low levels. Exposure to higher concentrations of nitrogen dioxide may cause irritation of the mucous membranes, coughing, shortness of breath, or headaches, and prolonged exposure may result in serious lung damage, chemical pneumonitis, and adverse effects on the cardiovascular system.

Smart communication – ideal for fire alarm systems

The E2639 detector combines the advantages of an autonomous safety device and an intelligent communication node. It is designed for seamless integration with fire alarm systems (EPS) and offers a wide range of outputs for comprehensive control:

  • Autonomy: 3× volt-free SPDT relays for direct control of equipment or safe system shutdown.
  • Connectivity: Dual RS485 Modbus RTU interface for digital export of measured data in real time to a higher-level system (BMS).
  • Control: 2× 4–20 mA analogue outputs intended for precise control of the ventilation frequency inverter.

WiFi calibration from any smart device

Compared to the standard version, the E2639-WF has an integrated WiFi module that turns calibration and configuration into a matter of minutes – with no tools and no need to remove the cover. The access point is activated using a magnetic key, and the configuration interface opens in the browser of a phone or tablet, with no need to download any app. The interface is password-protected with separate access levels for end users and integrators, so everyone works only within their own part of the settings.

Factory settings:

  • Measuring range: 0...20 ppm
  • ALARM1 (RE1): 5 ppm
  • ALARM2 (RE2): 10 ppm
  • ALARM3 (RE3): sensor fault
    • Automatic alarm reset after ventilation
  • Analogue outputs: 4-20mA = 0...20 ppm
  • ModBus RTU address: Baud rate 9600, Parity None, Stop bits 1, Slave ID 1

Key features

  • Sensor type: Electrochemical sensor
  • Measuring range: 0...20 ppm
  • Resolution: 0.1 ppm
  • T90 response time: approx. 60s
  • Recommended recalibration interval: 6 months
  • Estimated sensor lifetime: > 2 years
  • 1-year warranty on the sensor itself (2 years on the entire device excluding the sensor)

Calibration certificate

Each detector package includes the original manufacturer’s calibration certificate in English, confirming the accuracy and correctness of measurement at the time of leaving the factory.
