Evikon E2639-VOC(C7H8)-LEL is a detector designed for monitoring high concentrations of toluene in the air. The device is equipped with a temperature-compensated sensor that ensures reliable detection and stable measurement, and it is housed in a wall-mounted enclosure with IP65 protection. The E2639 features three SPDT relays with a maximum load of 250 VAC 5 A. Two relays are used for so-called two-stage detection. The third relay indicates a sensor fault. Communication with higher-level systems is provided via the RS485 Modbus RTU digital interface, complemented by two 4–20 mA analogue outputs. In addition, the device includes four LEDs and an audible alarm to immediately alert operators when the set limit is exceeded directly at the installation site – without the need to monitor a remote control system.
The E2639-VOC(C7H8) detector is intended for monitoring toluene in environments such as paint shops, printing works, chemical and pharmaceutical facilities, paint and thinner stores, vehicle repair workshops, and other enclosed spaces where volatile organic compounds may accumulate.
Toluene is a volatile organic compound that evaporates easily into the air and can accumulate to dangerous levels in enclosed spaces. Although it has a characteristic odour, it cannot be relied upon as a warning sign, because the sense of smell quickly adapts with repeated exposure and stops detecting it. Exposure may lead to headaches, nausea, dizziness or impaired concentration, and at higher concentrations or with long-term exposure there is a risk of serious damage to the nervous system, liver and kidneys.
The E2639 detector combines the advantages of an autonomous safety device and an intelligent communication node. It is designed for seamless integration with fire alarm systems (EPS) and offers a wide range of outputs for comprehensive control:
The E2639 is equipped with three M20 cable glands and a dual terminal block for Modbus RTU. The duplicated Modbus RTU terminals help simplify and speed up bus wiring for data readout to a higher-level system. No more inserting two conductors into one terminal. Thanks to the M20 glands, all required outputs can be connected conveniently.
